Terror Bombing in the Church of Egypt, 7 dead 24 injured

Tragedy struck
the Coptic Christians in the city
of Alexandria, Egypt, at the
turn of the year. At least seven
people were killed and 24
others wounded in a church in
the blast, suspected car bomb,
as they follow the worship to
welcome the New Year.
Egypt’s Interior Ministry,
quoted by Voice of America,
explains, the incident happened
about half an hour after
midnight, or early on Saturday
January 1, 2011 local time.
Explosion came from a car
parked in front of the church
complex. Authorities are still
investigating whether the
explosion was from a bomb
placed in the car.
However, shortly after the
incident, an offshoot of al-
Qaida in Iraq claimed
responsibility for the bombing.
They said the attack was a
response to the news that the
two women was held hostage
in Egypt after they converted
from Christianity to Muslims.
Egyptian authorities are still
verifying the claim of the
group.
